Perform in G&S: Abridged

G&S Abridged.png

After our sell-out production of Humbug! last Christmas, we are again performing at the Grove Theatre, on Saturday 8th June, 2.30pm & 7.30pm. This will be a concert performance with the theme 'Gilbert & Sullivan: Abridged', narrated by different characters from the 14 operas, and re-telling the stories from their own perspective. The narration will be interspersed with songs and musical snippets from all of the operas, and will include well known numbers, as well as some more obscure ones.

For the audience and the company, it is a rare chance to experience the G&S canon in its entirety (even Thespis!). Whether you're an aficionado who enjoys revelling in Gilbert & Sullivan's works, or a newbie who wants to get to know the operas, this concert is for you!

Monday 8th April 7.30pm - Intro & kick off rehearsal at St Barnabas Church hall (and auditions if applicable)

Monday and Wednesday evenings and occasional Sunday afternoons, ongoing until

Saturday 8th June - performances at 2.30pm & 7.30pm

How to Take Part

If you would like to perform with us in G&S: Abridged, please complete the form below. As there are so many roles to fill, speaking parts and solos/duets will be assigned by the production team from those who put themselves forward. If you are new to the society, or have not performed a speaking/solo role recently, you will be asked to audition at the first rehearsal. Otherwise, the parts will be allocated as fairly as possible based on knowledge of your recent performances.

Please note that while chorus will be able to sing from books, soloists and narrators will be expected to learn their parts.

We welcome all performers aged 14+
